VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that Daniel Louis Fuller (2/19/84), a transient from Ventura, pled guilty to the crime of involuntary manslaughter by an unlawful act for the death of Jeffrey Kibler (10/14/64), of Ventura, which occurred on September 11, 2018. Fuller and Kibler were both inmates, housed in the same quad, at the Ventura County jail when this incident occurred. Fuller wanted Kibler to leave the quad. When Kibler refused to leave, Fuller punched Kibler one time in the face and dragged him to the main quad door. Kibler died several hours later due to a ruptured spleen.

Intimate partner violence not only affects adults, but also any children who are exposed to violence. Studies show children who have witnessed domestic violence have trauma similar to that of a soldier who has witnessed war.

VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that Cody Washington (DOB 2/13/77), of Oxnard, was charged with the unlawful killing of Corey Smith, also of Oxnard, which occurred on October 24, 2020. The complaint charges one count of voluntary manslaughter with a special allegation that Mr. Washington used a knife during the commission of the crime.

VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that four individuals were arraigned yesterday on felony charges related to their alleged participation in a scheme to accept more than $3.8 million dollars in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc., to Pay $1.49 Million in Settlement of Environmental Violations
A spontaneous fire from store waste led to an investigation directed by the District Attorney’s Office which discovered that Bed Bath and Beyond was systematically sending regulated hazardous wastes from stores to local landfills throughout California. In a stipulated Final Judgment, Bed Bath and Beyond agreed to pay $1,327,500 in civil penalties and reimbursement of investigation and prosecution costs, and $171,250 to fund environmental enforcement in California. Bed Bath & Beyond cooperated during the investigation and dedicated additional resources towards environmental compliance.
